Way Aquarium Control

My tank's Whisper filter is too powerful for my 3 female bettas! How do I control the water flow?
I set up a Tetra 10 gal aquarium. It is cycled and working properly, so I put my 3 female betta fishes in the tank.
They seemed okay at first, and then they swam into the filter's outflow current.... and they smashed into the tank walls, plants, and into the gravel.
It was funny, but disturbing.
The filter is a Tetra Whisper filter for 5-10 gallons. It doesn't have a feature that changes the power.
It is way too powerful for my girls!
But I know that my fishes would be better off with a filter than without one!
So, what do my fellow fish keepers say about this? What are the best ways to reduce the outflow of the filter while still maintaining the filter's great function?
Thanks!

Alrighty, I put a silk plant into the water outflow of the filter and the current is MUCH better now. Thanks for your help~
what I did with mine is put some kind of thing (safe for fish) that will break the fall of the water so it wont go straight down but at an angle so it wont go down as fast. try doing that and tell me what your idea was.
