I never turn my computer monitor off?
My monitor is constantly on.
I have this amazing fish-aquarium screensaver that runs all throughout the night and during the day when the computer is not in use.
It doesn't affect the PC's performance from what I see, but is the monitor being damaged? It's a new monitor, very thin, LCD.
I really want to use the screensaver but i don't want to damage my computer (the monitor is never turned off either).
I see three answers here that say that you are shortening the life of your monitor by running this screen-saver constantly. Horse-hockey.
The screen-saver isn't doing the damage. It has nothing to do with your monitor.
The only so-called damage to your monitor is the constant usage thereof.
Advice:
Don't turn electronic components off and on haphazardly- it's stressful to them
If you're not going to be using your monitor for, let's say 4 hours or more, then turn it off.
It has never made sense to me to run a CPU-intensive screen-saver when no one is there to enjoy it.
