i'm using fluval lab series nitrate remover in my 55 gal freshwater fish tank my question is how long can i ?

leave it in my filter basket, i have the aqua clear power filter. it says it removes nitrates in a matter of hours, but can i leave it in there longer?

No. These have absorption limit. Once that limit is reached it will release the nitrate back into the water.

Remove it after the recommended time limit.
